Fifth Circuit Appellate Oral Advocacy Competition
The BAFFC Young Law Committee created the Fifth Circuit Appellate Oral Advocacy Competition to emphasize the development of oral advocacy skills through realistic appellate advocacy experience. Competitors participate in a hypothetical appeal to the U.S. Fifth Circuit and argue the case in front of the mock court at the John Minor Wisdom Courthouse in New Orleans.
Event check-in will open at 8 a.m. Oral Arguments scheduled on the hour between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. One hour for lunch will be provided from Noon – 1 p.m. Awards ceremony to begin at 3:15 p.m.
To register, complete the application and submit the registration fee no later than end of business on May 15, 2026. A maximum of 30 teams will participate in the competition.
