Annual Conference – 2024 Appellate Advocacy Seminar
On October 7 and 8, 2024, the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Loyola University College of Law, Tulane University School of Law, and Southern University Law Center will present the 2024 Appellate Advocacy Seminar in New Orleans.
Cost is $300.00/$200.00 (government attorney) for 10 hours of Continuing Legal Education, including an hour of Professionalism and an hour of Ethics in Louisiana and Mississippi and 9 hours including an hour of Ethics in Texas.
There will be a two-hour writing workshop and you will have the opportunity to observe oral arguments at the John Minor Wisdom Courthouse. You will also get practical advice on appellate practice from Circuit Judges, the Court and seasoned attorneys. In addition to an hour of Ethics and an hour of Professionalism, there will updates on criminal practice, civil practice, and current issues before the Supreme Court. This year we are pleased to have Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear, Principal Chief of the Osage Nation and source contributor to David Grann’s book and Martin Scorsese’s Oscar Nominated movie “Killer of the Flower Moon”, speak on Tribal Sovereignty and Federal Law
